My Work: Before materials can get used to make things for everyday, scientists have to look at them in detail to decide if they will work. That's my job. I break things for a living so you don't have to.
My Work: Everything is made of tiny blobs called atoms. Most of the stuff in an atom is in the middle bit, called the nucleus. I smash atoms together so I can see what the nucleus does when that happens!
My Work: I study the world at the most fundamental level, which means trying to provide an answer to questions such as :
- What are we made of?
- Where do we come from (birth of the Universe)?
