Honestly, no! I wanted to be in a band or be a music producer when I was a kid, but that was before I chose science as a career. Science and technology is always developing and can do so much good. I don’t think anything else stays as interesting.
I have been frustrated, especially near the start of my PhD. I’m feeling better about it now though, even though I still have a lot of work to do and not that much time!
Not really. I had an accident with equipment near the beginning of my PhD and thought about quitting, but that was more because I was scared than angry. I do get frustrated when experiments don’t work though! If that happens my supervisor will often suggest I do something else for a bit, or even take an afternoon off, and go back to it after a few days.
