I finally finished marking the lab reports I needed to mark, went on here, made some burritos, then played some table tennis. I didn’t get much science done, but now those reports are out the way I might have a bit more of a chance!
I worked on and submitted two grant applications in the morning, one for £400,000 and one for £330,000 to do more research. Fingers crossed. After that I helped a friend in the lab – she’s doing adhesive (that’s glue) research and borrowed a glue gun from me that kept breaking so I went down to the lab to help her fix it. In the afternoon I saw some of my students. I supervise undergraduate, masters and PhD students. At some point I think I came on here to answer questions, after that I organised to have a chat with a company about future joint research project and then went to pick up my son.
Good day really!
Well, yesterday I met with a work colleague to talk about our Science event that we ran in our local museum, here in Swansea. We had over 3,000 visitors, so we were stoked. I then had a video conference meeting with my research collaborators (who were here in Swansea, and in Manchester, Ireland and Denmark). I caught up with some boring admin paperwork before lunch. In the afternoon I met with my PhD student to talk about his research, and then with some other students to work with them on their final year project. I did some more admin work later in the evening at home. That’s a fairly typical day to be honest!
